AEK Boco 1 Warminster Town 0

On a bright day but with a bitterly cold wind blowing the Warminster away, fans were hopeful of another 3 points for the Red & Blacks. Sadly, there were no points after the home side scored deep into additional time.

The first half saw few chances, and the keepers had little to do at either end. The best two opportunities to score for Warminster came late in the opening half. When clean through on goal, Martin Johnson dragged his shot wide of the left post. A late corner kick was met by Cockerill, and he headed just wide of the post.

The second half was much the same, and the home side certainly had more possession throughout the game. Warminster were indeed off form and having a run of 17 unbeaten games, was probably due.

In goal for Warminster Town, Thomson produced a super save minutes from the final whistle but had little chance to stop the late goal (90’+5’) from going into the back of his net.

The visitors looked deflated coming off the pitch as they knew this was a far below-par performance. They know they can do better, and there are many more games to play before the season ends. This month, the away fixtures at close rivals Sherborne Town and Welton Rovers will be vital to winning as things stand to have a good chance of winning the league title.
