WARMINSTER TOWN LADIES ARE CROWNED LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

It was a huge weekend of football for both the first team and the Ladies sides” With the lads securing their second place finish and playoff qualification on Saturday, it was up to the Ladies to make it a truly memorable weekend for the club!

Swindon Town Development were the visitors to Weymouth Street for the 3rd and final encounter between the two sides and most importantly, the title decider! Swindon were just a point ahead with Warminster having a game in hand. A win would secure the title there and then, a draw would’ve taken it down the last game against Frome.

There were no such worries though as Warminster ran out winners! A single worldie goal into the top bins from Maddy Brown in just the 4th minute was enough to secure the win in what was a cagey and scrappy game with neither side willing to take too many chances.

That early pressure from Warminster paid off though and they defended solidly through the rest of the game, limiting Swindon to very few chances of their own. Warminster could’ve had a couple more if not for some impressive saves from Dani Hull in the Swindon goal.

Warminster Town Ladies are South West Regional Women’s league Eastern Division CHAMPIONS!

A fantastic weekend for the club and history made!

Warminster Town Ladies – League Champions

Congratulations to Warminster Town Ladies who on the first day of May sealed the league title.

The Ladies Team has been a credit to Warminster and have won promotion at the first attempt from the South West Regional Football League.

Warminster Town Ladies 3 FC Chippenham Youth Ladies 0

Warminster Town Ladies have struggled to get games this season due to weather-related postponements, having only played 6 competitive games heading into this Semi-Final cup match against FC Chippenham Youth.

Despite the lack of game time, however, it took Town just 30 seconds to open the scoring!

Mia Blazey fouled on the edge of the area and stepped up and planted the ball firmly into the bottom left corner from the resulting freekick.

It was very much one-way traffic in the first half-hour, Town having a few good chances and converting one into their second goal in the 20th minute. Shannon Redhouse put a low cross into the box for Maddy Brown to knock home.

The score remained 2-0 at the break.

The second half was a somewhat more sloppy affair. Neither side got many clear cut chances until the last 5 minutes when Warminster rounded out their victory with a third goal. Maddy Brown yet again gets on the end of a Blazey through ball, cutting inside the box to drill her shot low into the bottom left corner.
