A Fair Result As Town and Heath Take A Point Each
Warminster Town 0 Cadbury Heath 0
Warminster Town and Cadbury Heath played out a goalless draw with neither side able to break the deadlock. There was no shortage of opportunities but both teams were guilty of squandering good chances.
Both teams started brightly. Jack Newman rounded a Heath defender, ran into box and shot just over bar. At the other end Town’s keeper Callum Hotine was at full stretch to save a shot from the visitor’s Callum Whooley. Seb Hounsell squared to Jack Newman free in the six yard box but the young striker’s goal bound shot was well saved by Heath’s keeper Mason Hawkins. A left side Town corner was only half cleared and Oscar Williamson’s spectacular overhead kick just missed the target. Heath’s Miles Scott was allowed to run unchallenged and his curling shot from outside box just cleared the Town crossbar. At halftime the sides could not be separated.
After the break the visitors started to have the better of exchanges. A Heath short corner led to a Miles Scott shot from the edge of box but it was well saved by Hotine. Heath forward Hassain Hussein turned his marker on edge of box but dragged his shot wide. Going into stoppage time the visitors had the chance of the game. Substitute George Boon broke down the left and squared the ball into the danger area. It fell to Hussein with the goal at his mercy but he shinned the ball up onto the crossbar where it bounced twice before dropping down and Hotine eagerly pounced on it. In the fifth minute of stoppage time Jake Wright was fouled in the visitors’ half. Reece Collyer struck the free kick superbly from fully 35 yards but Heath’s keeper Hawkins was equal to it, tipping the shot over the crossbar. That proved to be the final action as referee John Reed blew for full time.
After the game Town manager Rob Nash commented it was a fair result and on reflection about right. In the first half we passed the ball nicely. Second half we went a bit too direct making it easier for them to defend. This time last year we had five points less than we’ve got today. We’re unbeaten at home after three games, which can’t be bad.
