Bashed by The Bishops
Warminster Town started the day with a 100% unbeaten record, 3 out of 3 and were looking to make it four wins. Bishop Sutton had other ideas and proved to be a strong side. The first half saw the home side create the better chances, but fail to capitalise on them. The Bishops had the sharper play on balance on the day, and thanks to a second-half penalty came out as 1-2 winners.
The visitors showed their determination from the first whistle and in the second minute, a shot was fired just a few feet over Hotine’s crossbar. Soon after, Warminster created several chances with Butler and then Lisowski seeing their efforts go over the Bishops goal. In the 6th minute it looked as though the visitors were about to get a penalty after Sisson brought down a player, but it was just outside the penalty area.
The home side continued to have shots on goal, the best on 15 minutes when Pawley,s shot had to be saved by the keeper, forcing a corner. Hotine was called into action in the 32nd minute and produced a fine save. The deadlock ended in the 41st minute with a goal by Buck for The Bishops.
In the second-half, Warminster didn’t take too long to level the score. Just over 4 minutes in and Francois Allen increased his season’s goal tally. Picking up the ball on the right he cut into the penalty area and let fly a right-footed shot ending up in the left-side of Locke’s net.
On 57 minutes, Hotine kept the score level with a fine save. The ball came in from the Bishops left, and he had to dive at full stretch to force it past his far post.
The winning goal came (74) when Lewis Graham who had just come on as a substitute, clipped a Bishops players and a penalty was awarded. Baker took the penalty slotting the ball to his left and Hotine, unfortunately, guessed the wrong way to dive.
Warminster continued to battle, but today were just slightly off the form they have shown so far this season and couldn’t get the equaliser.
