Warminster Town 1(0) Keynsham Town 0(0)
Attendance 94
For the best part of an hour Warminster weren’t at the races! It was all Keynsham before the break and if they could shoot they would have been two or three goals in front. Fortunately for the home faithful all their shots flew high and wide.
Midway through the second half Warminster took a quick throw in by the dugouts sending Jack Newman clear. The young striker finished superbly, 1-0. Warminster celebrated, Keynsham looked crestfallen, the linesman didn’t flag, the referee walked back to the halfway line and the stadium announcer credited Jack with the goal. But hang on. Somebody had said something to the referee, Ella Broad and the goal was disallowed. Having watched it back on the live YouTube feed I can see that the quick throw in was taken with a different ball to the one that went out of play and that was why the goal was disallowed.
Barely a minute later a Reece Collyer punt downfield set Jack Newman clear again and he slipped the ball past the Keynsham keeper, Archie Didcott. This time it was 1-0. With three minutes of normal time remaining a superb Martin Johnson pass sent Jack Newman clear again but this time he was thwarted by keeper Didcott who made a superb diving save ,pushing the ball wide of the post for a corner.
There was still time for Jack Newman to turn provider but his cross to the back post just eluded Jack Duck. Warminster saw out the stoppage time to take all three points that lifted them eight points clear of Keynsham in the second relegation place.
