AEK Boco 0 Warminster Town 2

Saturday took Warminster Town to Bristol, where they would face AEK Boco at the True Clarity Pavilion. Warminster would survive an early scare as the Boco winger put a ball across the face of the goal, only to be missed at the far post by another Boco player. At the other end, a Warminster free kick would end up just wide of the post after some brilliant play into the box. The goal wouldn’t take long to come, though; as Cassidy piled on the pressure, a loose ball would be pounced on by Corey Gardner, and he rifled it into the roof of the net. 0-1. Following this a missed corner presented Warminster’s next best opportunity and Boco would miss going down the other end in what was becoming an entertaining battle. At halftime, the score was still 0-1 to the Red and Blacks.

In the second half, Boco would press hard for an equaliser, with Lewis Graham picking up a yellow after being exposed at the back. Warminster countered with a fast-paced attack which produced a save from Boko’s keeper.

Cassidy made way for James Vincent, and Humphreys was replaced by Seviour, who was presented with a golden opportunity to shoot at the on-rushing keeper, forcing a save before taking the rebound in his stride and firing wide of the far post.

Further woes would be heaped on Boco when their Number 12 collided with an accelerating Max Wyatt, which the officials deemed to be a red card offence sending the Boco man for an early shower. With a man advantage, Warminster pressed forward with Wyatt finding Vincent in the box, who then failed to spot an unmarked Seviour and fired wide of the post.

Warminster would then make their final change with goal scorer Gardner marking the way for Seb Hounsell. As the game closed out, a moment of brilliance would clinch the game for Warminster as Wyatt raced down the right flank before placing an exquisite shot off the far post and into the back of the net. 0-2.

Despite an opportunity to make it three and Boco failing to find a conciliation goal, Warminster would pick up three enormous points against a side they had struggled against last season.
