Warminster Town welcomed Gloucestershire-based Tytherington Rocks to Weymouth street on an afternoon that had a chilly, autumnal feel to it. The rocks came here unbeaten in five, whilst Town were agonisingly beaten by Brislington on Tuesday, conceding a last-minute goal.

This was a game of two halves, Warminster were way off the pace first half, and it only took 9 minutes for the Rocks to go in front. Ethan McMahon fired past the helpless Sam Thomson after twisting inside and out. The same player would have another chance just 30 seconds later, but this time was way off target.

Still, the Rocks were dominant and were two up on half an hour. A ball into the area wasn’t dealt with and Connor Horseman accepted the gift to put the away team 0-2 up.  

After half time it was a totally different game, 30 seconds after the restart, Corey Harbour-Burgess fizzed a great ball across the box, but Max Wyatt and Logan Cassidy both couldn’t quite get there.

The Rocks’ defence was valiant until the 74th minute. Wyatt was causing all sorts of problems and danced his way through the defence and squared for Corey Gardner, who, with the aid of many deflections, halved the deficit.

By now, Warminster were really banging on the door; could the rocks’ defence stay rock solid? Well, 3 minutes from time, that question was answered. The quick and tricky Wyatt yet again caused carnage, winning a free kick, and Spencer Dymond – Hall deservedly drew the host side level from the free kick.

After how much effort was put into the game on Tuesday, Warminster will be more than happy with this point, especially after the first half. This game began a run of 4 straight home games, so come and support the town. Also, congratulations to Toby Worts for making his first team debut off the bench!
